While the Guide Pack was inspired by canoe trip guides, it was designed and built with all kinds of adventure in mind. Made from a durable 1000 denier nylon, this pack doesn't need to be babied to last. Either side features a tall side pocket for large mouth water bottles, thermoses, or anything you need easy access to. Around the top of the main pocket is a cord used for cinching the bag closed before securing the top flap. This double closure is perfect for keeping the elements away from everything being stored inside, and works together with a Durable Water Resistant (DWR) coated fabric to help the bag shed water.
At 2300 cubic inches (37 liters) the Guide Pack falls in the middle of our Portage Pack series. This relatively small but versatile canoe pack has some optional additions that allow large loads to be carried comfortably - a sternum strap and load lifters can be attached to the shoulder straps for added load management. The sternum strap can be tightened to keep your arms free to move, and load lifters can pull the pack up and forward to maintain a tighter center of gravity. Adding a waistbelt will relieve the pressure of the shoulder straps, and helps keep the pack stationary on your back.
